Credo Awards ALA Annual Conference Trip To Two Librarians

Support for libraries and professional development needs intersect with latest Credo contest.

June 18 2015, Boston – Credo, the industry leader for information skills solutions, today announced that it is sponsoring two librarians to attend the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco this month. The winners were selected at random from dozens of librarians who each submitted a story about Credo on their campus or in their library.

Brenda Sevigny-Killen of the University of Maine at Augusta and Kat Barden of Westminster College shared stories detailing ways in which Credo has benefited their institutions and students. Sevigny-Killen wrote that with Credo’s finely indexed and navigable online reference collection, a dissatisfied library patron was converted into a happy researcher. Barden spoke of how Credo’s on-demand tutorials allow faculty to build information literacy into their course resource areas, saving instructors and librarians time while providing students with engaging multimedia materials.

“Being from a small liberal arts college, I am especially grateful for the opportunity,” said Kat Barden. “National Conferences are important ways that librarians stay connected and continue to build their skills and knowledge base. Similarly, Reeves Library uses Credo to help students connect to resources and to build their information literacy / research skills. I look forward to hearing what’s now, what’s new, and what’s next at ALA San Francisco.”

"With shrinking professional development and travel budgets, attending professional conferences is typically a hard-won luxury for public university staff,” said Brenda Sevigny-Killen. “Credo to the rescue! I am beyond grateful to Credo and extremely excited to be attending ALA Annual in San Francisco thanks to their award. Thank goodness for Credo, and companies and associations like them, that generously donate in a multitude of ways in support of the library profession."
